Matt Bartels

President
Tenure 15 Years

Matt grew up in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina and now lives in Charlotte. After graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, with a degree in Building Science, he went to work in the commercial construction field and hasn’t looked back. Building is Matt’s passion. In his spare time, he enjoys playing Bluegrass Music with friends, and spending time exploring the North Carolina mountains and lakes with his wife Nichelle and daughters Maggie and Parker.

Xan Deaton

Vice President

Xan brings a unique perspective to our team through a diverse background both in and out of construction. After graduating from the University of Vermont with a BS in Exercise Science Xan spent several years at the U.S. National Whitewater Center where he not only managed the paddlesports department but also took the initiative to assist with the maintenance of the concrete whitewater channel. He came to BCS to continue to develop his passion for construction, restoration and project management.

Cheryl Parrish

Controller

Cheryl has worked in the construction office setting for the majority of her career. If you ask her what she enjoys most about the construction industry, she will tell you it’s knowing that the completed projects they are involved in will make a positive impact in the local community and in the surrounding areas. Away from the office, Cheryl is active in her church where she plays the piano on the music team. Cheryl enjoys reading, drawing, and crocheting, and trips to the beach. She has two grown children and two grandchildren.

Roger Gerhardt

General Manager Concrete Services

Roger is General Manager Concrete Services where he works with sales, project management, estimating, and business development. He has over 20 years experience from various concrete positions including, sales director for the largest ready mix group in South America, and CEO/VP for one of the largest pre-casting companies in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Roger holds a business and civil engineering degree from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He speaks English, Spanish, and his native language Portuguese.

Roger and his wife, Rosa, live in the Charlotte area with their teenage son, Marcus.

Devin Shelton

Project Manager

Devin serves as a Project Manager in our Concrete Services and oversees concrete jobs throughout all stages of the project. Devin has an extensive background in concrete, grading, clearing, and paving in the field of construction. Devin is skilled at directing projects from inception through completion, with effective communication, management, and team collaboration.

Devin received an associate’s degree from Stanly Community College in Criminalistics and Criminal Science, and has several licenses and certifications in construction project management from Procore Technologies, a global construction management platform.

Chris Turner

Project Manager

Chris Turner is a Project Manager and is responsible for the supervision of the construction phase of projects, project bidding, and change orders. He also develops and maintains communication throughout the project progress, and builds working relationships with subcontractors, clients, and customers.

Chris has a wealth of knowledge and experience in project management from his time with a commercial building group in Florida, where he managed multiple government construction contracts. He was also on the project management team for the design/build of a 200,000 SF vehicle manufacturing paint shop for an electric vehicle company.

Susie Knebusch

Office Manager

Susie is our Office Manager and brings eight years of construction office experience to BCS. Prior to joining BCS she served as an Accounts Receivable Specialist, an Accounts Payable Specialist, and a Project Assistant for construction companies in the Charlotte area.

Originally from Michigan, she took business courses at Western Michigan University. Susie, her husband Ken, and daughters Emma and Kimli live in South Charlotte. Outside of work Susie and her family enjoy traveling and exploring new places. She also enjoys cooking with her daughters.

Thais Echols

Project Assistant

Thais is a Project Assistant and supports office staff and field employees to monitor all projects’ progress. She oversees and manages various aspects of BCS projects to ensure successful completion, and collaborates with all team members to maintain project timelines, complete milestones, and keep projects on budget and in scope.

Thais brings construction experience from her previous roles as executive assistant and operations manager at a real estate investment firm, and project support at a flooring supply store. She also taught preschool for six years at Charlotte Jewish Preschool.

Kelly Potts

Marketing Manager

Kelly is the Marketing Manager for BCS, and is responsible for all external print and digital marketing channels, including social media and the website.

She brings nearly 20 years of marketing experience in graphic design, website design, and campaign planning, creation, and implementation.

Kelly lives in Indian Land, SC with her husband, two kids, and mini labradoodle, Benedict.
